Did you know that in areas in Africa 3 out of 5 children don’t live to see their 5th birthday? As I look into the eyes of my own girls, that statistic sends chills down my spine. If we lived there, they may not be alive...simply because of dirty water. These young innocent children have little chance of survival, not due to any fault of their own. They were just born into unfortunate circumstances. Furthermore, these children and families walk miles just to get that dirty water because that is all they have. Together, we can change that.
Hope Water International is an amazing nonprofit organization that raises money to dig wells to bring fresh CLEAN water and the love and good news of Christ to those in need. They search out areas in most need and use our funds to make it happen!
I love to run, but I want it to have meaning. I want to be a light to those around me. Running helps me both mentally and physically, but I want to do more than that! I want to help OTHERS both mentally and physically. It is so much bigger than me. From now on, I run with a purpose. I run for hope. I run for love. I run for life. I run to show others God’s love.
I know this year a different sort of year. In fact, this year was supposed to be my first FULL marathon. I've decided to defer my race to 2021, BUT I am not deferring my fundraising. While everything has seemed to slow down and come to stop here, everything has NOT come to a stop in Africa. They still deal with the same issues as they always have been...lack of clean drinking water. I am still running for hope and clean water on October 18. It might look differently that I imagined it would, but it is still for a purpose.
