Campaign: 2021 Detroit Marathon
Team: 2021 MI East - Detroit Marathon

Judy Wortman

This is my sixth year walking for Hope Water, a wonderful cause that has been life changing to be involved in! As part of Hope Water International (HWI), I train and participate in racing events, while raising money to install clean water wells in the Pokot regions of Africa.

This year I have already walked the Glass City Half Marathon (first in person race in a year and a half!) in April and plan to virtually race the Bayshore Half Marathon at the end of May. I plan to also participate in the CRIM 10 miler in August, Brooksie Way Half Marathon in September and the Detroit Half Marathon in October. It is still to be determined if the races will be virtual or in person, but I will walk them no matter what!

Thank you from the bottom of my heart for supporting me and this life changing cause. $24 provides water for life to one person, however, any donation, big or small, is greatly appreciated! All donations (cash, check, and online) are tax deductible. You can donate through my online fundraising page at https://www.hopewaterinternational.org/fundraisers/1308. You can also send a check (written out to Hope Water International) to 350 Longford Drive, Rochester Hills, MI 48309.

On a daily basis, women and children in the Pokot walk 3-4 miles in search of water. The water they do find is dirty, disease filled and shared with animals. We are so fortunate to live where we have easy access to clean drinking water and it is the mission of HWI to provide this to others across the globe. Providing clean water means that people have more time to work in order to provide for their families, children can go to school, incidence of diseases dramatically reduces, babies are carried to term, and churches form around the water wells bringing the gospel to communities.

I “run (walk) with purpose.” - 1 Corinthians 9:26.

Water = Hope = Life

With Love,

Judy
