Friends and Family-

Thank you SO MUCH for taking the time to check out this endeavor of mine. For several years, I have participated in raising funds and awareness for African countries suffering from a lack of clean water. Sponsoring me through a donation allows others to have a well in their village, thus allowing them time to dedicate to their families and freedom from grueling water walks each day. The alternative is to walk many miles to a water source, which is both life-giving and necessary but also bittersweet, as these water holes are filthy and full of disease. Having been born into ultimate luxury and freedom, I simply cannot imagine the physical and mental endurance needed to do this every day just to survive. This past year, I even chose a novel to teach in my classroom that allowed the entire 6th grade at Avondale Middle School to learn about the harsh life of many who live in Africa. A Long Walk to Water by Linda Sue Park allowed me to share this endeavor with my students and now I share this endeavor with you. Together, the 6th graders (and their friends and families ) raised over $2000 for Water for South Sudan. I will be running The Crim in August and then the Grand Rapids 1/2 Marathon in October. Every step will help drill wells in Kenya, specifically for a remote tribe called The Pokot. Please join me in supporting our brothers and sisters in God who live so very far away and don't have this basic life necessity. Thank you from the bottom of my heart ( and soul! ...or sole..... ) See what I did there? Sole. Running.... I'm here all night, folks.......
