On Sunday, October 15, I will be walking the Grand Rapids half marathon for Hope Water International!
Hope Water International (HWI) is a non profit organization that provides clean water wells to areas of Kenya, Uganda, Sierra Leone and Liberia. In these areas women and children walk for miles a day searching for the basic need of water to provide for their families. The water they do find is dirty, disease filled and shared with animals, yet they have no other option than to drink it.
Together we can make a difference and provide this necessity for life!
Since April, I have been training very hard to walk 13.1 miles for the second time! Every Saturday I do my long training walk with my HWI team on the Paint Creek Trail, and throughout the week I religiously follow my training plan with early morning walks and cross training. It is such a blessing to be a part of such a wonderful group on mission together, along with my daughter, Rebecca, and her husband, David. Our Saturday morning group runs/walks are a highlight of my week. I never would have imagined that at 70 years young I would be doing half marathons for a great cause and having so much fun in the process!
I would appreciate your support in being a part of this mission with me! There is no amount too small, all donations make a difference!
