Campaign: 2019 Ironman 70.3 Traverse City
Team: 2019 Ironman 70.3 Traverse City
Dan Dean
In 2014 my goal to start running was to complete a Michigan Senior Olympics event with my mom. She inspired me to get off the couch and move. Five years later I am off blood pressure meds, and have dropped close to 40 pounds. In August I will participate in the longest event I have ever attempted - 70 miles - combining swimming, biking and running - at the inaugural Traverse City Ironman 70.3. Mom now lives in memory care and mostly uses a wheelchair to get around, but the group she ran with has become like family to me, a bunch of people pushing themselves to inspire others to give financially to the nonprofit - Hope Water International. As much as I have benefited from participating - a greater impact is happening in Kenya where the funds raised are providing life-changing clean drinking water wells to an area and a people that no other organization is helping. Please find it within your means to help me reach a personal goal not only in fitness but in fundraising.
Thank you!
