Campaign: 2019 Sleeping Bear Marathon
Team: 2019 Traverse City - Sleeping Bear

Ted  Mulder

We did it! We ran a full marathon! WHY you ask? It wasn't on our bucket list, in fact it probably was on a list in our minds of things to never do... but we ran for an amazing cause - to raise awareness and support for the Pokot people in Africa! There is still time for you to join us in this cause!

Did you know that in Kenya or Sierra Leone people walk many miles to try to find water and if they do, it is anything but clean or fresh? Water-related diseases are responsible for 80% of all illnesses and deaths in the developing world. 1 Billion people draw their water from unsafe sources.

The numbers can seem overwhelming, but as a missionary statesmen once asked us, "How do you change the world?" and he then answered, "One person at a time." Joanne & I met up with a great group of people (Hope Water International - Northern Michigan Tribe) who run to raise awareness and funds for drilling wells in Kenya & Sierra Leone. In the last 5 years HWI has drilled over 100 wells impacting 100,000 to 200,000 people. We supported a good friend who ran with HWI two years ago and last year we ran a half marathon and many of you helped us to reach and beat our goal.

We were stretched this year to train and run a marathon and we would love to have you join us and our HWI Tribe in our efforts to drill more water wells.

Thank you!
